Path of Exile Domain of Timeless Conflict: Solo Farming and Enshrouded Uniques
Learn how to prepare unique conversions, balance general kills with arena clears, and reduce downtime between Legion runs.
Overview
Learn how to prepare the Domain of Timeless Conflict for solo farming, choose useful Enshrouded Unique modifiers, and build an efficient clearing route. The strongest approach combines item conversion progress, general kills, and ordinary monster rewards rather than relying on a single valuable drop.
The Legion changes introduced in patch 3.29 give this encounter a purpose beyond group experience farming. With suitable preparation, its unique-conversion system creates another reward stream alongside Timeless Jewels and random loot. Success depends as much on planning between encounters as on killing quickly inside them.
How the Solo Farming Strategy Works
The basic loop is straightforward: open a five-emblem encounter, place prepared Enshrouded Uniques into the arena's pillars, and kill monsters to advance their conversion ranks. Reset defeated enemies through the central circle, continue clearing, and retrieve items when they reach the rank appropriate to your target.
This creates three overlapping sources of value:
- Converted uniques: a retained modifier can become valuable when paired with a desirable resulting unique.
- Timeless Jewels: repeated general kills provide opportunities to find useful jewels.
- Encounter loot: ordinary monsters and generals contribute additional rewards throughout the run.
Do not judge the strategy by its most spectacular possible combination. A valuable conversion is an uncertain outcome, not a guaranteed return. Consistent farming requires controlling input costs and keeping all three reward streams moving.
Prepare Emblems, Crystals, and a Suitable Build
Use Five Different Timeless Emblems
Prepare one emblem for each Legion army: Karui, Eternal, Vaal, Templar, and Maraketh. Legion encounters in maps supply the splinters used to assemble these emblems, while trading offers an alternative to farming every set yourself.
Although smaller encounters are possible, this strategy is built around five different emblems. Organize multiple sets before starting so that replenishing entry materials does not interrupt every run.
Bring Prepared Enshrouded Uniques
Enshrouding Crystals correspond to five equipment categories: boots, helmets, shields, gloves, and body armours. Their role is to preserve a predetermined modifier from an eligible unique while the conversion produces another unique in that equipment category.
This is not a system for freely selecting any modifier on an item, nor does it cover weapons, jewellery, or belts. Check the relevant vestigial modifier before committing a valuable input.
Apply the matching crystal to the intended unique before entering. Once enshrouded, the item must be progressed through the Domain's system before its conversion can be resolved.
Prioritize Clear Speed Without Neglecting Boss Damage
A suitable character needs fast coverage, mobility, and enough single-target damage to kill generals without lengthy stops. Wide-reaching projectile skills can perform well because they clear enemies while the character travels between priority targets.
Headhunter has strong synergy with the encounter's many rare monsters. However, an expensive belt is not a substitute for a functioning build. Reliable defences and damage matter more than committing your entire budget to one item.
Choose Modifiers That Add Useful Utility
The most interesting conversions often combine the defining strengths of two uniques rather than simply adding more damage. Defensive effects, kill attribution, and unusual skill access can create combinations that ordinary equipment cannot reproduce.
Gravebind and Animated Guardian Utility
Gravebind's nearby kill-attribution effect is a useful example. When carried onto Lochtonial Caress, it can support the gloves' charge-generation effects and Conduit, allowing an Animated Guardian to contribute charge-sharing utility.
The lesson is broader than one combination: a modifier that looks situational in isolation can become desirable when another unique supplies the missing interaction. Understand why a build wants the result before investing in repeated attempts.
Defensive Body Armour Combinations
Body armour offers several compelling modifier families. Cloak of Flame contributes physical damage taken as fire, while Lightning Coil provides physical damage from hits taken as lightning. These effects have different coverage and should not be treated as interchangeable.
Other possibilities include Death's Oath's Death Aura and The Brass Dome's protection against extra damage from critical strikes. Combining such effects with a desirable destination armour can produce an unusual defensive or build-enabling item.
Body armour crystals can also be a substantial expense. Their potential rewards do not automatically make them the best starting point. Compare the total cost of the input unique and crystal against realistic demand for both strong and mediocre results.
Research Demand Before Committing
A listed price is not proof that an item sells regularly. For each planned modifier, consider:
- Which builds actually benefit from the effect?
- Which resulting uniques create a meaningful interaction?
- Are there affordable substitutes for the finished item?
- How much capital could remain tied up while waiting for a buyer?
Use a dedicated stash tab for selected inputs and keep matching crystals nearby. This turns repeated attempts into a planned process rather than a fresh research task after every encounter.
Set Up the Arena Before Starting the Timer
Open the encounter through the Map Device using the five emblems. Inside, prepare the four item pillars around the arena before entering the central activation circle.
- Place your prepared Enshrouded Uniques into the available pillars.
- Confirm that the intended items are locked in.
- Enter the middle only when preparation is complete.
- Use the five-minute, fifteen-second encounter window to clear and reset enemies.
The central circle is both the activation point and the reset mechanism. Returning to it for a short period respawns a portion of defeated enemies. Generals do not necessarily return after every reset, so avoid wasting time waiting at an empty spawn location.
Understand Conversion Ranks and Carryover
Killing enemies advances the items placed in the pillars. Conversions have three ranks, with higher ranks favouring less common unique outcomes. Rarer input uniques also require more kills to progress.
Rank three is a sensible default, not a universal rule. If the desired result is a common unique, an earlier conversion rank may better match that goal. Decide the intended stopping point before starting rather than assuming that maximum rank always means the most useful result.
Unfinished items can remain in their pillars between encounters. Leaving them in place allows progress to continue in a subsequent Domain rather than forcing an early retrieval. This is particularly important when a set of difficult conversions cannot be completed within one timer.
Generals contribute more conversion progress per kill than ordinary enemies. However, large numbers of normal, magic, and rare monsters still matter. A route that chases only bosses can sacrifice too much total clearing to make the best use of this system.
Compare the Main Clearing Routes
General-First Routing
This approach moves directly between generals, kills those available, and resets after the targets are exhausted. It emphasizes Timeless Jewel opportunities and works best when the character can dispatch bosses quickly.
Its drawback is reduced attention to the wider monster population. Despite the value of individual general kills, skipping too much of the arena can slow overall item progression and reduce incidental rewards.
Monster-First Loops
A clear-focused route sweeps around the arena, killing dense packs and resetting after a circuit. Generals are incidental targets rather than mandatory stops.
This can suit a character with excellent coverage but weaker single-target damage. It provides steady conversion progress, although fewer general kills mean fewer opportunities to obtain Timeless Jewels.
Hybrid Loops: The Practical Default
A hybrid route combines broad clearing with deliberate general kills. Move around the arena quickly, stop for accessible generals, and reset after a productive circuit.
Do not chase a perfect full clear. Backtracking for isolated survivors usually costs more time than beginning another cycle. The goal is a high volume of useful kills, not an empty arena.
Repeated revivals make enemies tougher and more dangerous while increasing their rewards. Reset aggressively only while the character can still kill efficiently and survive. Spawning enemies faster than you can handle them undermines the strategy.
Handle General Downtime Efficiently
Aukuna's Dismount Transition
Aukuna, the Black Sekhema, has a mounted phase followed by an on-foot phase. Her transition creates a brief period when she cannot be damaged.
Start a circuit near her position when practical. Trigger the dismount, continue clearing other enemies, then return after the transition rather than standing still. If she has not respawned, simply continue the route.
Cardinal Sanctus Vox's Channel
Cardinal Sanctus Vox can become invulnerable while channelling and summoning statues. Moving through the statues can end their contribution to the mechanic, but awkward positioning may make them difficult to reach.
If resolving the phase immediately would require excessive manoeuvring, clear nearby enemies and return. The same principle applies to other interruptions: spend forced downtime killing something else whenever possible.
Manage Loot, Pricing, and Real Profit
Timeless Jewels require more care than ordinary uniques because their seed-dependent effects can radically change their usefulness. A quick trade comparison is a reasonable first pass, but exceptional-looking jewels may justify deeper inspection.
Path of Building's Timeless Jewel tools can help assess passive transformations. Reserve detailed checking for plausible candidates rather than allowing every jewel to interrupt the next run.
Track your Path of Exile currency across batches, including emblem sets, crystals, input uniques, and completed sales. Chaos Orbs provide a convenient measure for smaller expenses, while Divine Orbs are useful for comparing higher-value conversions.
The most important efficiency improvement often happens outside the arena. Prepare several runs together, keep replacement items ready, and separate farming from extended pricing sessions. A strong clearing route cannot compensate for spending excessive time deciding what to enshroud next.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should every Enshrouded Unique reach rank three?
Usually, if the aim is a less common result. An earlier rank can be appropriate when deliberately targeting a common unique.
Do unfinished items disappear when the encounter ends?
Items left in their pillars can carry over into another Domain, allowing their conversion progress to continue across runs.
Is killing only generals the best strategy?
It emphasizes Timeless Jewel opportunities, but a hybrid route usually offers a better balance of general kills, ordinary rewards, and conversion progress.
Is Headhunter required?
No. Its interaction with rare monsters is powerful, but the essential requirements are fast clearing, adequate boss damage, and reliable survival.
What is the biggest avoidable mistake?
Entering without a conversion plan. Stockpile the intended uniques and crystals first so that research, shopping, and pricing do not consume the time saved by efficient clearing.
