Overview

The Grazi Blood Knights reward coordinated movement, accurate protection prayers, and careful defensive timing. This guide explains the duo encounter from the opening split through the Sanguine Heart and final damage race, with practical priorities for securing a first kill rather than chasing a fast completion.

Prepare for the Duo Encounter

Start in normal mode before attempting enrage mode. Learning the attack colours, movement cues, and partner responsibilities is easier when mistakes are less punishing. Higher enrage makes mechanics such as the prayer sequence faster and increases the consequences of poor execution.

Agree on starting sides and a simple communication plan before entering. Both players need to know when to swap opponents, when to group together, and when the player downstairs should destroy a tumor during the heart phase.

  • Keep protection prayers accessible for rapid switches.
  • Place Surge and Dive somewhere easy to reach.
  • Prepare defensive options such as Devotion, Reflect, and Barricade where your setup supports them.
  • Check the requirements for your chosen defensives before relying on them.
  • Bring enough supplies to survive a learning attempt without assuming perfect execution.

A sensible RS3 gold budget should cover repeat attempts as well as equipment. Expensive upgrades cannot compensate for missed prayers or an incorrectly handled floor break.

Opening Positions and Shared Mechanics

Keep the Blood Knights separated

The right-side Blood Knight, Vasili, attacks with Magic. The left-side opponent, Carmina, attacks with Melee. Assign one player to each side, then engage together.

Maintain separation between the bosses. Bringing them too close together sharply reduces your hit chance, making it harder to progress and prolonging exposure to their attacks. When repositioning or swapping targets, preserve that separation rather than pulling both opponents into the same space.

Recognise the prayer flurry

After the opening four auto-attacks, the first prayer flurry begins. The opposite Blood Knight sends a sequence of coloured attacks toward you, and both players must respond with the correct protection prayers.

  • Blue: Protect from Magic.
  • Red: Protect from Melee.
  • Green: Protect from Ranged.

Follow each projectile individually instead of assuming the sequence always repeats. The timing takes practice, and higher enrage gives you less room for hesitation. Keep watching these attacks even while managing your own opponent's mechanics.

Coordinate boss swaps

Hits from a Blood Knight build a personal stack associated with that opponent. Each stack increases damage dealt against that specific knight by 8%. However, staying on one opponent indefinitely is not the safest learning strategy.

Coordinate swaps when incoming damage becomes difficult to manage. A useful starting rhythm is approximately every 15–20 seconds, around ten stacks, rather than treating that timing as an inflexible rule. Mechanics and partner readiness should determine the actual swap.

Call the change clearly and make sure both players take responsibility for their new opponent. Uncoordinated switching can disrupt positioning just when a dangerous mechanic begins.

Vasili: Magic-Side Mechanics

Floor waves

Vasili sends damaging waves across the floor. Move out of their path instead of remaining stationary to finish an attack. Protect from Magic combined with Devotion is another defensive option for this mechanic, but learning the movement pattern remains valuable.

Later in the encounter, additional waves make the pattern more demanding. Avoid spending both movement abilities unnecessarily before the next hazard appears.

The large blood projectile

The large projectile commonly called the meatball requires partner coordination. Move next to your duo partner so the attack can be handled together, then use appropriate damage mitigation.

Reflect, Shield Dome, or Barricade can help manage the incoming hit, depending on your setup and available resources. Agree on the response beforehand so neither player assumes the other is handling it.

Blood diamond

During the later portion of the encounter, Vasili introduces the blood diamond mechanic. Avoid the marked squares: being caught by them deals substantial damage.

Use Dive or Surge to leave threatened tiles promptly. Read the destination as well as the starting tile, since moving out of one hazard is not useful if you land inside another.

Carmina: Melee-Side Mechanics

Lunge attack

Carmina's lunge deals typeless damage and stuns a player who fails to move. Escape the attack with movement, using Dive or Surge when necessary.

Do not assume your normal protection prayer will solve this mechanic. Its main counter is avoiding the lunge, preserving both health and control of your character.

The unremovable Magic bleed

Carmina also applies a bleed that lasts 10.2 seconds and deals rapid Magic damage. This occurs alongside Vasili's large-projectile mechanic, creating a moment where both players need to coordinate carefully.

Freedom does not remove this bleed. Plan mitigation rather than spending an ability expecting a cleanse.

One approach is to swap opponents with your partner, take over Vasili, and use Protect from Magic with Devotion to help manage the bleed while facing the Magic-attacking knight. Reflect or Barricade provides alternative mitigation. Tanking the damage may be possible at lower enrage, but it is a less reliable habit for progression.

Phases One and Two: Build a Repeatable Rhythm

The opening phase combines the shared prayer sequence with each knight's individual mechanics. Focus on maintaining separation, switching prayers accurately, and making clean swaps.

Phase two retains those mechanics but introduces a much heavier damage burden, with 200 stacks displayed on the Blood Knights. Treat the transition as a warning to tighten defensive timing, not as an invitation to ignore mechanics for damage.

A consistent rotation is useful, but interrupt it whenever survival demands movement or a prayer change. Spending extra time recovering from avoidable damage usually costs more progress than briefly delaying an offensive ability.

Phase Three: Destroy the Sanguine Heart

The upstairs player's role

One player is transported to the upper area to attack the Sanguine Heart. A red timer beneath the boss health bar determines how long that player can remain upstairs. If it expires, the player returns downstairs, and the other player can be sent up later.

The priority upstairs is efficient damage against the heart. Destroying it quickly limits the stacks accumulated by the Blood Knights and reduces the pressure carried into later phases.

The downstairs player's role

The player below must survive while managing sanguine tumors. Destroying a tumor resets the upstairs timer to 18 seconds.

Do not destroy every tumor immediately. Wait until the timer has fallen before destroying the next one, giving your partner a meaningful extension rather than wasting the reset.

One Blood Knight channels the heart instead of attacking, but the other remains active. The tumors also deal periodic damage, making this a demanding survival assignment despite only one knight directly attacking.

  • Watch the upstairs timer and communicate before it expires.
  • Destroy tumors deliberately to extend the damage window.
  • Use defensives to manage the combined incoming damage.
  • Avoid blood diamond squares when they appear.
  • Prioritise staying alive over unnecessary damage against the active knight.

The two roles depend on each other: strong heart damage needs sustained timer support, while good tumor management only pays off if the upstairs player makes use of the extra time.

Phase Four: Place the Bleed on the Breaking Floor

After the heart is destroyed, the knights hit harder because of the stacks accumulated during that phase. Familiar mechanics continue, but Vasili adds a floor-breaking attack with a critical placement requirement.

A bar above Vasili signals the approaching floor break. A separate bar above your character indicates when a persistent Magic-damage effect will attach to the floor at your position.

The correct sequence is:

  • Identify the floor section that will be destroyed.
  • Move onto it before your personal placement bar completes.
  • Allow the persistent effect to attach to that section.
  • Leave before the floor breaks.

Leaving too early places the effect on surviving floor, exposing you to repeated Magic damage. Leaving too late is worse: standing on the floor when it is destroyed causes an instant kill.

Use Surge and Dive purposefully, keeping an escape available after reaching the intended section. Continue handling prayer flurries and floor waves, which become more demanding with additional switches and waves.

Phase Five: Control Healing and Clear Your Stacks

Reducing the Blood Knights to zero health first triggers the final phase rather than completing the encounter. They gain vampirism, healing from the damage they deal.

This creates a damage race, but defence remains essential. Missed prayers and failed movement mechanics restore enemy health, undoing part of your offensive progress. Clean execution can therefore contribute more than forcing an extra attack through a dangerous mechanic.

The floor break and other familiar attacks continue. For first kills, resolve them properly instead of relying on a risky attempt to finish before they matter.

A special action button also creates a green circle that removes stacks when you stand inside it. Watch the stack indicator at the bottom-left of the health bar: reaching 100 stacks causes an instant kill.

Use the special action and enter the circle before the threshold becomes urgent. Once the knights reach zero health again, the encounter is complete.

Rewards and Progression Priorities

The encounter's rewards include tier 95 dual-wield crossbows, a Necromancy incantation, and common loot that includes crimson ichor used to make sigils.

Do not plan your learning budget around receiving a valuable unique drop. Track supplies and deaths against ordinary loot when assessing your RS3 GP expenditure. Consistent completions are a better foundation for progression than an occasional success surrounded by expensive failed attempts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should a first attempt be in normal mode?

Yes. Normal mode is the recommended starting point for learning prayer timing, coordinated swaps, and the floor-placement mechanic before attempting enrage.

Can Freedom remove Carmina's bleed?

No. Use damage mitigation and consider a coordinated swap to the Magic-attacking knight so protection prayers and Devotion align with the incoming damage.

Why should tumors be destroyed gradually?

Each destroyed tumor resets the upstairs timer to 18 seconds. Spacing those resets gives your partner more useful time to damage the Sanguine Heart.

What makes the final phase difficult?

Vampirism lets the knights heal from damage dealt, while familiar mechanics continue. You must also use the green circle to prevent your stacks from reaching 100.

What is the most important floor-break rule?

Place the persistent effect on the section that will break, then escape before it collapses. Leaving before placement or remaining through destruction both have severe consequences.
