Overview

Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.57 focuses on Beastmaster reliability, smoother Crucible of the Unbroken preparation, and a broader matchmaking pool in Japan. This breakdown explains the changes that matter for everyday attempts, competitive scores, and finding groups across logical data centers.

The biggest practical improvements are fewer opportunities to enter a fight with an incomplete setup and more points for two Crucible objectives. Alongside those adjustments, several combat bugs have been corrected, including a familiar-switching interaction that could negate incoming damage.

Beastmaster Commands Become More Reliable

Beasts ordered to stay will now turn toward their target before executing Tempered Release or Parting Blow. Previously, a beast that was facing the wrong direction could fail to perform either action because the stay command prevented it from turning.

This change makes positioning less disruptive without removing the purpose of the command. Players can keep a beast stationed where they want it while issuing these attacks, rather than repositioning it merely to establish the correct facing.

For difficult encounters, the practical benefit is consistency. A strategy that depends on a particular command should be less vulnerable to a pet remaining pointed away from its target. It is still worth checking positioning and command execution rather than assuming every failed action has the same cause.

Crucible Preparation Gets Better Safeguards

Your Selected Difficulty Persists Until Logout

The Crucible mode used for the previous attempt becomes the default for subsequent attempts until you log out. This applies to the mode selected before challenging a board, including the degree-based difficulty options.

Repeated attempts should therefore require less menu management. After failing a difficult run, players no longer need to reselect the same mode every time simply to avoid entering the standard version by mistake.

The setting is temporary, not permanent. Check it again after logging back in, especially before beginning a ranking attempt or practicing a specific difficulty.

Small Teams Receive Automatic Battle Horn Assignments

When reviewing a team before entering an enemy space, familiars are automatically registered to battle horns if the team contains three or fewer familiars. These assignments can still be adjusted manually.

This reduces the chance of selecting a team but forgetting the separate step that makes its familiars available in battle. Automatic registration does not replace a final inspection: players with a deliberate summon order or a restricted-team strategy should confirm the resulting assignments.

Incomplete Assignments Default to Canceling Entry

If one or more battle horns remain unassigned, the warning before entering an enemy space now defaults to No. That small interface adjustment makes it harder to rush through the prompt and accidentally commit to an unprepared fight.

  • Confirm the intended Crucible mode before starting.
  • Review the selected familiars and their battle horn assignments.
  • Adjust automatic assignments where necessary.
  • Resolve any unassigned-horn warning before entering combat.

Higher Scores Change Crucible Route Decisions

Two scoring adjustments make previously available objectives more rewarding:

  • Defeating elite enemies: increased from 625 to 800 points.
  • Sleepless Survival: increased from 375 to 1,000 points.

The elite-enemy increase adds 175 points per qualifying defeat. Sleepless Survival receives the larger change, adding 625 points to its previous value.

These are scoring improvements rather than a blanket reduction in enemy difficulty. Their importance lies in how much score a route can generate from its chosen encounters and restrictions.

Reassess Whether Resting Is Worth the Trade-Off

Awarding 1,000 points for foregoing tent sleep makes Sleepless Survival a more substantial consideration. Players who previously preferred to rest should reconsider the value of that recovery against the increased bonus.

However, a larger reward does not make the restriction automatically optimal. If avoiding rest leaves a team unable to finish the board, the theoretical score gain is not useful. Plan recovery and consumable usage around the whole attempt rather than a single encounter.

The same principle applies to elite enemies. Their higher value can improve a route's scoring potential, but the extra encounter must still fit the team's capabilities. Reliable completion is a better foundation than chasing every possible bonus without enough resources.

Keep any FFXIV gil budget for preparation separate from scoring decisions. Spending more on available supplies does not replace understanding familiar matchups, recovery needs, or the conditions attached to a bonus.

Crucible Rankings: Eligibility and Rewards

The announced first ranking period begins on October 26, 2026, at 5:00 a.m. GMT and runs until early December 2026. Season start and end times are subject to change.

Rankings are aggregated by physical data center, rather than being restricted to a single world. Eligible scores must nevertheless be recorded on the player's home world.

How to Record an Eligible Score

  • Attempt the Crucible on your home world.
  • Select third degree as the Crucible mode.
  • Enable the option to participate in rankings.
  • Check your recorded Crucible score with the NPC near the entrance in the Central Shroud.

Ranking scores are compiled from the last three attempts of each board. That makes repeated attempts relevant to the recorded result; players should not assume the system simply preserves one exceptional personal best indefinitely.

A dedicated Lodestone page will display the rankings. At the end of the period, the top 300 players on each physical data center receive vouchers through the Moogle Delivery Service that can be exchanged for rewards.

Placement Rewards

  • First place: Beast of the Best achievement.
  • First through 100th: Running Feral achievement.
  • First through 300th: Crucible Contender achievement and access to the Tourmaline Golem mount reward.

A preseason phase follows the ranking period before the next season begins. Do not assume a specific second-season date from the first season's schedule.

Same-Region Matchmaking Begins in Japan

The other major system change expands matchmaking and party recruitment across logical data centers within the same physical data center. Its initial implementation covers Japan, bringing Elemental, Gaia, Mana, and Meteor into the broader matching scope.

The important distinction is between logical data centers and the regional physical grouping that contains them. This is not worldwide matchmaking: the change connects eligible players within the same region.

After stable operation is confirmed in Japan, the system is intended to roll out to other data centers in turn. The announcement does not establish a firm rollout date for North America or Europe.

A wider recruitment pool could help players find parties without concentrating activity on one logical data center. It may also reduce the need to travel solely to access a busier recruitment scene. These are potential benefits, not guarantees of instant queues or identical participation across every duty.

The change concerns duty matching and party recruitment. It should not be interpreted as an announcement of a unified regional Market Board or changes to Final Fantasy XIV gil trading systems.

Important Bug Fixes for Combat and Crucible Runs

Capture and Action Reliability

Dullahans in the North Shroud, Amdapor Keep, and the Tam-Tara Deepcroft (Hard) can now be affected by Capture as intended. Calamity also receives a fix for circumstances where using it at a distance occasionally failed to deal damage.

Another correction addresses unusable subcommands after a particular NPC interaction before accessing the Master's Bestiary. Together, these fixes target both collecting beasts and using the job's systems consistently.

Damage Negation and Encounter Problems

Switching summoned familiars while under the Cover effect granted by Snarl could previously nullify simultaneously executed enemy attacks. That interaction has been fixed.

Strategies should therefore handle incoming damage through intended mechanics rather than timing familiar dismissal to erase an attack. Older routes built around that interaction need to be reassessed.

Additional fixes restore board-layout access after entering certain enemy spaces, correct the indicated area of effect for the Drake piece's Blowing Ring of Fire, and address a precisely timed knockback that could freeze a great wisp summoned by an ogre piece and prevent battle continuation.

Interface and Visual Corrections

The patch also corrects the default gamepad cursor position in Crucible loot and treasure windows. Outside that content, companion chocobos receive a targeting fix for situations where engaging another enemy after certain actions caused them to attack an unintended target.

Other corrections address Beastmaster weapon graphics when Lalafell use consumables with their weapon drawn, teleport or return effects while riding the Interstellar Leafkin, and incorrect entries in the recommended achievements window.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Crucible remember my difficulty permanently?

No. The previously selected mode remains the default until logout. Verify it again when beginning a new session.

Do higher Crucible scores mean enemies were weakened?

Not by these scoring adjustments. Elite defeats and Sleepless Survival award more points, but players still need to complete the encounters and meet the bonus conditions.

Can I record ranking scores while visiting another world?

Eligible scores must be recorded on your home world, with third degree selected and ranking participation enabled.

Is same-region matching available everywhere?

The initial implementation covers Japanese data centers. Further rollout depends on confirming stable operation, with no firm dates established here.

Can the Tourmaline Golem be obtained simply by earning gil?

The announced acquisition route is the top-300 ranking reward system. Building currency reserves does not substitute for the required competitive placement.
