Overview

OSRS Easter 2026: What’s New This Year

Old School RuneScape’s 2026 Easter event brings the usual springtime chaos back to Gielinor, but with a small mystery at its center: one of the chocolate eggs has gone missing, leaving behind a note that hints at where it’s hiding. This year’s quest leans into a light “hunt and track” theme, asking you to help the Easter Bunny recover what’s been lost and restore order to the festivities.

How to Start the Easter 2026 Event

You can begin the event at the south entrance of the Grand Exchange. Look for the Easter Bunny waiting in a cozy nook near the entrance area and speak to them to start the seasonal quest.

Easter 2026 Rewards (Including New Holdables)

Completing the event awards a set of themed cosmetics centered around collectible eggs and playful fashion options. The headline reward is a new holdable item designed to function similarly to classic novelty holdables.

  • Arch Ball: a holdable egg (pet-rock style) you can carry around.
  • Paint options: customize Arch Ball with different designs.
  • Dragon egg: a prestige-styled cosmetic for players who like “ancient bloodline” vibes.
  • Chick egg and nest hat: matching cosmetics for outfit combinations.
  • Fashioncape combinations: the event is designed to mix and match with existing cosmetics.

If you’ve missed rewards from previous Easter events, remember to visit Diango in Draynor Village to reclaim older event items while the event is active.

Event Timing and Livestream Notes

The event runs until April 15th. Jagex also announced an Easter livestream on April 2nd, featuring community activities such as a themed in-game gathering, Twitch-driven voting for an egg decoration competition, and live hide-and-seek.

PvP Quality-of-Life Improvements: The Big Picture

This update includes a long list of PvP-focused improvements intended to modernize gear presets, reduce frustrating edge cases (like losing cosmetic overrides), and smooth out common Wilderness interactions. The changes touch Last Man Standing, Bounty Hunter, PvP Arena presets, Wilderness boss encounters, and several system-level rules that impact fight flow.

Last Man Standing (LMS) Updates

Gear Adjustments to Match the Current Meta

Last Man Standing received gear tuning meant to better reflect the modern PvP landscape. The starter gear for the max/med bracket has been updated, including items such as:

  • Staff of the Dead
  • Ahrim’s robe pieces
  • Karil’s leather top
  • Torag’s platelegs
  • Vernic treads

The broader gear pool also now better represents newer additions, helping LMS feel less “stuck in time” and more aligned with what players expect from current PvP combat.

Skull and Lobby Behavior Fix

A common loophole has been closed: you can no longer lose your skull by entering an LMS lobby, logging out, and world-hopping. This is a straightforward integrity fix that prevents unintended skull manipulation.

Supply and Stat Bracket Tweaks

  • While inside the lobby, you can now hold up to three Saradomin brews (up from one).
  • The shark cap is now 10 (down from 11).
  • Max/med bracket defense increased to 85.
  • Zerker bracket attack increased to 80.

These adjustments aim to keep brackets competitive as weapon and prayer metas evolve.

Bounty Hunter Changes

Rewards Usable in More PvP Spaces

Bounty Hunter rewards can now also be used in additional combat environments:

  • TzHaar Fight Pit
  • Player-owned house Combat Ring
  • Clan Hall Combat Ring

This expands the usefulness of BH unlocks beyond the mode itself, making them more relevant to players who enjoy varied PvP formats.

EP Changes While Unskulled

To discourage low-risk EP farming, while unskulled in Bounty Hunter you now receive 50% less EP per minute, and your emblem will not upgrade past tier five.

Vesta’s Spear Special Attack Buff

The Vesta’s spear special attack now blocks ranged damage in addition to melee damage. This is a notable survivability upgrade that can change how the spear is used defensively in certain matchups.

Lobby Death Counts as Skipping a Target

Players dying in the Bounty Hunter lobby will now be considered as having skipped their target. This helps prevent odd edge cases and keeps target flow consistent.

PvP Arena (Duel-Style) Preset Modernization

The PvP Arena has been updated with a larger set of usable items, largely to include newer gear and keep presets relevant. Starter sets for pure, zerker, and max/med builds have been refreshed so jumping into fights is faster and more representative of today’s loadouts.

Important note: these starter kits replace your existing build when selected, so treat them as standardized presets rather than minor tweaks.

Prayer Availability Changes

Deadeye and Mystic Vigour prayers are now allowed in fights for players who meet the level requirements.

Preset Stat Adjustments

To support the updated prayer and gear requirements, some preset builds have had their stats raised. For example, the zerker build has been adjusted upward in attack, defense, and prayer, and max/med preset combat stats have been increased to 99s.

Cosmetic Overrides Refunded on PvP Death

One of the most player-friendly changes in the patch: dying in a PvP world previously meant losing applied cosmetic overrides as part of item loss. Now, specific cosmetic components that would typically be lost will instead be refunded, letting you show off rare unlocks without permanently risking them.

Example: Mutagen Helmets

If you die with a magma helm, you still lose the base helmet (such as the serpentine helm), but the magma mutagen will be placed in your gravestone so you can reapply it later. Similar protection applies to other notable cosmetic components (such as certain slayer helm additions).

Other PvP and Wilderness Quality-of-Life Updates

Autocast Retention When Weapon Swapping

In PvP arenas, if you have not attacked another player in the last 20 ticks (12 seconds), swapping weapons will now retain any set autocast. This is particularly helpful for Wilderness PvM situations where players frequently swap between spell setups.

Wilderness Boss Exit Spawns Adjusted

After leaving Venenatis, Callisto, and Vet’ion, spawn locations have been slightly altered to place players above ground. You will still be close to escape cave entrances if you want to use them to evade PKers.

Large Group Boss Fight Tuning

  • Vet’ion will spawn fewer hellhounds for larger groups.
  • Venenatis will spawn slightly fewer spiderlings.
  • Venenatis phase changes now occur every other attack if there are more than 10 players (previously triggered at more than 5).

Risk/Kept-on-Death UI Accuracy

Dizana’s quiver and Revenant weapons now more accurately reflect risk wealth in the items-kept-on-death interface, reducing confusion when gearing for Wilderness trips.

Revenants and Iron Accounts: Loot Eligibility Fix

Revenants and Revenant Maledictus will no longer invalidate iron accounts from obtaining loot if another player attacks the NPC. The iron account still only receives a drop if they are the MVP (deal the most damage). This brings Revenants in line with other Wilderness NPC loot behaviors.

Revenant Cave Shortcut Improvements

  • The delay after crossing a Revenant cave shortcut has been removed.
  • Ranging ammunition no longer spawns on top of shortcut pillars.

PJ Timer Increased in PvP Worlds

The PJ timer in PvP worlds has been increased to 16 ticks (9.6 seconds) from 8 ticks. This is aimed at reducing disruptive “pile-in” behavior when fights stall due to simultaneous eating or resets.

Additional Rule and Interaction Tweaks

  • In PvP worlds, players can now use dwarf multicannons in the Wilderness.
  • In single combat, you can no longer telegrab food dropped by other players in the Wilderness (but you can pick up your own dropped food or food dropped by NPCs you’re fighting).
  • Elder Chaos Druid placement near zombie pirates has been adjusted to reduce incidental teleblocks on passersby.
  • Castle Wars behavior changes: barricade and bandage rules updated outside designated worlds.
  • Added a toggle to disable combat XP at Castle Wars, Soul Wars, TzHaar Fight Pit, and Clan Wars.
  • In Permanent Deadman, trinkets now break on death, and breach NPC hitpoints have been restored to significantly lower values.

Mobile and Official Client Improvements

Mobile UI Scaling Controls

Mobile players can now reduce UI scale for better customization across phones and tablets. The default value is high (noted as 400%), and a magnification cap prevents the interface from becoming too small to use.

To make scaling consistent across platforms, the official client’s scaling setting has also been updated to a dropdown rather than a slider. On fresh installs, scaling matches the operating system’s display scale, and you can fine-tune it as needed.

Foreground and Background FPS Limits

The official client now includes separate max foreground FPS and max background FPS settings, allowing the game to run at a lower frame rate when not in focus for improved performance and resource control.

Audio and Graphics Fixes

  • Audio sliders now behave more predictably; low master volume should no longer unintentionally mute channels (Android and PC noted).
  • Fixed a bug preventing anti-aliasing settings from appearing on supported devices.

Sailing: Boat Combat Balancing Update

Jagex also shared a short progress update on boat combat balancing changes scheduled for release next week. The goal is to make cannons feel more rewarding when actively used and to reduce the “spongy” feeling of certain sea creatures.

Manned Cannons Getting Buffed

Cannons will receive a buff when they are actively manned by a player. The intent is to close the gap between cannon damage and player gear, so that a captain actively operating a cannon can compete with a more traditional combat approach plus additional crew members using cannons.

Sea Creature HP Reductions

Sea creature hitpoints will be reduced, especially for smaller and lower-level targets, so their tankiness better matches theme and progression.

Worn Gear Contribution Fix

An issue where worn gear wasn’t contributing correctly to damage calculations is being addressed. The fix is planned alongside the cannon and HP changes so gear properly affects overall damage output.

Next Boat Combat Expansion Teased

A future expansion involving NPC boats is also in the works, including new enemies, rewards, and cannonballs.

Other Notable Changes

  • World switcher filtering option added as part of preparations for additional world locations.
  • A typo corrected in the Thieving skill guide.
  • Yami’s chat head no longer shows blue stripes in certain contexts.
  • Free-to-play restrictions on chat channels with skill total below 150 have been made more flexible for certain specialist builds.
