OSRS Update Recap: New Minigame Teleport Menu, Whistle Reclaims, and Sailing Quality-of-Life
Learn what changed, how to use the new teleport menu, and what fixes matter for daily play.
Overview
What’s in This OSRS Update (and Why It Matters)
This week’s Old School RuneScape changes focus on making travel and everyday interactions smoother. The headline addition is a dedicated Minigame Teleport spell that’s easier to find and faster to use, plus a reclaim option for the Perfected Quetzal Whistle. There are also small but meaningful tweaks to Sailing interactions, several bug fixes, and a community event announcement.
Perfected Quetzal Whistle: How Reclaiming Works
If you’ve lost your Perfected Quetzal Whistle, you can now reclaim it from the relevant NPC (Soral leader) under specific conditions.
Eligibility requirements
- You can reclaim the Perfected version if you either previously showed one when asking about unlimited whistles, or you had one in your possession when the update went live.
- If you don’t meet either condition, you’ll need to craft the Perfected whistle again once. After that, it becomes reclaimable going forward.
What this does (and doesn’t) cover
- This reclaim option applies to the regular Perfected whistle.
- The Imbued version already had a reclaim option (for a fee), and that remains unchanged.
In practical terms, this is a safety net for players who earned the item and accidentally misplaced it, reducing the frustration of repeating a full acquisition path just to restore basic travel convenience.
New Minigame Teleport Spell and Menu (All Spellbooks)
Traveling to minigames is now significantly more straightforward thanks to a new, dedicated teleport spell. Instead of digging through older menus, you can access a single-purpose interface designed specifically for minigame travel.
Where to find it
- The Minigame Teleport spell is available on all spellbooks.
- You can also locate it using spell filtering, which helps if you’ve got a lot of icons competing for attention.
How it works
- Cast the spell to open a dedicated Minigame Teleport menu.
- The menu is focused: it only displays minigames, which keeps it cleaner and faster to navigate.
- Each option clearly indicates whether it’s currently usable, including any requirements you’re missing.
Cooldown clarity
The cooldown is clearly shown so you know when the teleport is available again. Once you teleport, the spell itself becomes unavailable until the timer expires, preventing confusion about why the menu won’t reopen.
Requirements shown up front
A major quality-of-life improvement is that the menu can display requirements directly on the minigame entry. For example, if an activity requires a tutorial completion, you’ll see that immediately rather than discovering it after the fact.
New teleport options added for previously unsupported minigames
This update also expands coverage by adding teleport options for minigames that didn’t previously have them. Notable examples include:
- Bounty Hunter
- Mastering Mixology
- Sorceress’s Garden
For routine participation, the Mastering Mixology teleport in particular is a time-saver, letting you jump into the activity loop without extra routing.
Grouping tab and worlds
These teleports are also reflected in the grouping tab and channels. Additionally, specific default worlds were assigned for certain activities:
- World 470 is the default Mastering Mixology world.
- World 471 is the default Sorceress’s Garden world.
- Bounty Hunter does not have a fixed default world due to its rotation.
What about muscle memory?
If the new spell icon placement disrupts your habits, remember that spellbook reordering is already supported on third-party clients, letting you place the icon somewhere that feels natural.
Additional Travel and Convenience Changes Still Coming
This update is part of a broader push to make getting around Gielinor more convenient. The remaining items discussed as upcoming include:
- River Lum canoe station improvements
- Faster agility shortcut traversal
- Spirit trees: “last destination” option, favorites, and right-click support
- Fairy ring destination improvements
- A Lunar return orb
If you do a lot of skilling routes, clue steps, or repeatable errands, these kinds of changes often add up to noticeable time saved over a week.
Level-Up Popups: Optional Unlock Lists Return
Following feedback on the recent skill guide and level-up message changes, the settings now include a third option for level-up popups.
New setting option
- You can choose to show level and unlocks, which restores the classic-style popup behavior while still keeping the newer messaging improvements.
Don’t miss unlock details
If you want a reliable record of what you gained, you can also enable the level-up guide list setting. This prompts a chatbox message inviting you to open the skill guide at your convenience, reducing the chance you miss an unlock list during combat or other interruptions.
Sailing Tweaks: Faster Interactions and Route Improvements
Sailing continues to receive quality-of-life updates aimed at reducing friction during repetitive tasks.
Shipwright workbench right-click options
To avoid extra dialogue and menu steps, the shipwright’s workbench now supports right-click options for:
- Repair kits
- Hull parts (including selecting which variant you want)
This is a small change that matters most when you’re repeatedly crafting components and want to stay in a smooth rhythm.
Port task routing tweaks
Ocean Rapids placement was adjusted to better align with popular cargo delivery routes, helping speed up common Sailing loops.
Animation and UI fixes
- Captain’s log UI visibility issues on mobile were addressed (sea and ocean dropdowns fully visible).
- Crewmate and salvaging hook animations should now play without delay when assigned while sailing toward a shipwreck.
Ship combat changes: expected soon
Ship combat adjustments are targeted for the next game update, depending on testing results. If you’ve been holding off on deeper Sailing engagement due to combat feel, it’s worth keeping an eye on that patch.
Bug Fixes and System Adjustments
A handful of fixes and corrections landed alongside the travel and Sailing improvements.
Boss and instance timing
- The Sarachnis private instance respawn timer was corrected to 10 seconds.
Herb sack fixes and item behavior
- The opened silklined herb sack now uses the correct silklined placeholder.
- The herb sack should now only contain as many herbs as it’s allowed to hold.
- Additional lost herbs were identified due to the herb sack issue, with returns planned during a maintenance window (Tuesday, March 17th at 11:00 a.m.).
For accounts that rely heavily on stored herb value (including restricted builds), restoring lost stacks can be a significant quality-of-life win.
Ancient Wyvern Shield bug resolved
- A bug that allowed players to claim free Ancient Wyvern Shields was fixed.
- Incorrectly obtained shields were tracked and removed from involved accounts.
- Trading for the Ancient Wyvern Shield has been re-enabled.
Death’s Coffer additions
Several Deadman: Armageddon/Annihilation-related items were added as eligible for Death’s Coffer, giving players more flexibility in how they manage item value.
Visual and guide corrections
- The Wilderness-themed POH exit portal should appear more orange.
- The Wilderness-themed POH floor textures were adjusted to display correct shades across garden types.
- The Mining skill guide now correctly lists the Runite ore level requirement as 85.
Small utility tweaks
- You can now use a fletching knife to cut raw fish into fish offcuts and receive secondary ingredients where applicable.
- Imbued hooded and araxyte slayer helms can return scrolls of imbuing if the wearer is killed in PvP (when applicable to the item state).
- The message about dropping pets on free-to-play worlds was updated to reflect service changes.
Community Event: OSRS Egg Decorating Competition
An Easter-themed community event is running: an egg decorating competition with categories for funniest, most creative, and most OSRS-inspired entries. Submissions are handled via the official Discord using the specified hashtag, and winners are selected during an Easter livestream (April 2nd). Each category winner receives 10 Bonds and three months of membership.
Mobile: Character Switcher Coming Soon
A mobile character switcher is on the way, aiming to make multi-account swapping less painful. The previewed interface shows multiple accounts in one place, reducing the need to repeatedly sign out and back in.
