Overview

World of Warcraft patch 12.1.5 brings a new raid, a mega delve, outdoor invasions and additional collection goals. This overview explains how to organize those activities, protect limited-time opportunities and separate useful character upgrades from optional purchases.

The rollout is scheduled for October 13 on North American realms and October 14 on European realms, alongside their respective weekly resets. The most important distinction is between activities you can revisit later and rewards that require attention during the opening reset.

Start With the Rewards That Have Deadlines

A patch launch can create competing demands on your time. Story quests, repeatable outdoor activities and cosmetic shopping are easier to fit around your schedule than an achievement restricted to the first reset.

  • Check the opening-week solo challenge: the mega delve includes a tier 11 achievement with a first-reset deadline.
  • Begin the weekly fragment quest: starting promptly avoids delaying its multiweek gear reward.
  • Finish remaining Pandaria Timewalking purchases: the event ends at the weekly reset.
  • Collect your weekly invasion reward: its reputation-related token is tied to the first reward satchel opened that week.
  • Review promotional eligibility separately: store offers and Twitch rewards have their own requirements and closing times.

Characters still building their equipment should also check the additional quest in Silvermoon City for a Nebulous Void Core. Keep that short stop in the same planning session as your other weekly quests rather than leaving it until the end of the reset.

The Mega Delve: Solo Progression and an Opening-Week Challenge

The new mega delve in Eversong Woods adds another route for players who prefer smaller-scale or solo progression. Its rewards include Hero-track equipment and additional loot from its associated bounty and coffer rewards.

Approach it as both a progression activity and a challenge destination. Collecting routine rewards does not require treating every visit as an attempt at the most demanding achievement.

Prioritize the Tier 11 Solo Achievement

The opening-week achievement requires defeating the delve's final challenge at tier 11 without anyone else in your group, before the first reset after launch. A mount reward is also associated with this accomplishment.

The deadline matters more than ordinary weekly efficiency. Players aiming for the achievement should reserve time to learn the encounter, improve their setup and make repeated attempts before the window closes.

Review interrupts, defensive abilities, movement tools and self-healing before entering. These are general preparation priorities, not substitutes for learning the encounter itself. A clear understanding of your class toolkit can be more valuable than spending heavily on marginal equipment upgrades.

Begin the Three-Fragment Gear Reward

A quest connected to completing a chamber awards a fragment toward a selectable Mythic-quality equipment reward. Three fragments are needed to create the item used for the selection.

With one fragment available per week, the collection takes three weekly opportunities. Pick up the quest before running the relevant chamber, and check its completion requirements on each character you intend to progress.

The selectable reward is particularly useful for filling a stubborn equipment gap. Rather than choosing a slot immediately, compare your raid, dungeon and Great Vault results first. A choice that looks attractive at launch may become less valuable after another upgrade arrives.

The New Single-Boss Raid

The patch also adds a raid built around one boss. Its entrance is reached through the underbelly area beyond the Venomous Abyss in the associated vault complex.

A compact raid offers another equipment opportunity without requiring a full multi-boss clear. Its items include additional effects worth evaluating alongside ordinary stat improvements.

Choose difficulties appropriate to your character and group. Access to multiple difficulties does not mean every character should attempt all of them immediately, especially while learning the fight.

  • Check the encounter's loot against your weakest equipment slots.
  • Read item effects rather than judging upgrades solely by item level.
  • Coordinate defensive cooldowns and encounter responsibilities with your group.
  • Leave time for the opening-week delve challenge if that achievement is a priority.

Keep repair bills and consumables in your progression budget. Spending your entire reserve of WoW gold on cosmetics before tackling unfamiliar content can make repeated attempts unnecessarily inconvenient.

Outdoor Invasions and Reputation Rewards

The new invasions take place in Eversong Woods or Zul'Aman on an hourly schedule. Participation involves defeating enemies and then a miniboss to obtain a research satchel.

The first satchel opened during the week provides a research token that can be exchanged for bonus reputation tokens. This gives players another way to support reputation progression alongside their usual activities.

Related vendors also offer collection rewards, including a mount and a toy. Keep these purchases separate from the weekly reputation decision: a collector may value an appearance reward, while another character benefits more from advancing a reputation.

For an efficient routine, complete an invasion when it fits between longer activities. There is little reason to interrupt a productive group session simply to attend every hourly occurrence.

Mythic+ Catch-Up Equipment and Mount Goals

A Season 2 equipment chest provides access to Champion-track pieces for additional characters. This is a catch-up option to consider when preparing an alt for more demanding activities.

Inspect its acquisition requirements and available rewards before committing resources. Catch-up equipment is most useful when it replaces a genuinely weak slot rather than duplicating gear the character already owns.

The Timeless Saddle adds a separate long-term goal: reaching 3,600 personal Mythic+ rating unlocks the saddle used to obtain returning mounts from the relevant vendor in Silvermoon City.

This is a performance objective, not a purchase shortcut. Consumables and enchants can support progression, but spending more currency cannot replace completing sufficiently challenging keystones successfully.

Budgeting for the Fungal Strider Mount

The Sporebearer Fungal Strider is a major collection purchase at five million gold. Its additional auctioneer and transporter options cost another two million gold, bringing the complete setup to seven million.

The purchase is available through the vendor in the Den near the Stormwind portal. Adding the associated passengers involves a separate conversation after acquiring the mount.

Before spending that much WoW Retail gold, decide whether you want the mount model alone or its additional services. Those are different savings targets, and treating them separately makes the decision easier.

Maintain a reserve for ordinary play, including repairs, enchants and crafting orders. A prestigious mount is an optional collection goal; it should not prevent you from maintaining the characters you actively use.

Pandaria Timewalking: Spend Badges Deliberately

Pandaria Timewalking remains available until the reset. Its dungeons offer leveling opportunities and Timewarped Badges, while the vendor on the Timeless Isle provides mounts, transmogs and other collectibles.

A teleport trinket purchased with Timeless Coins can simplify repeat visits to the island. This is useful for players returning to the vendor across multiple characters.

Portable Yak Wash and Auction House Sales

The Portable Yak Wash costs 500 Timewarped Badges and is a tradable toy that can be listed on the Auction House. The first qualifying dungeon quest reward for the Warband provides a convenient way to obtain that badge amount.

Treat the toy as a market-dependent opportunity rather than guaranteed profit. Compare existing listings before spending badges, particularly if you still need account collection rewards.

A listing price is not a completed sale. Competition, demand and the availability of the Timewalking event all affect whether your toy sells and how long it remains listed.

A nearby roaming vendor also offers additional Pandaria-themed cosmetics. Review both vendors before committing your badge balance so that a resale experiment does not crowd out a reward you actually want.

Bonus Events, Store Cosmetics and Twitch Rewards

After the reset, the Battleground Bonus Event offers increased Honor gains, while the Pet Battle Bonus Event supports pet leveling. The pet battle event also provides an opportunity to obtain a stone that raises a battle pet directly to level 25. Gravity Lapse is the scheduled PvP brawl.

Separate these gameplay events from optional promotions. The gear-store cosmetic offer has an October 12 deadline, so it should not be treated as an ongoing patch-launch reward.

The Australia-only McDonald's promotion uses eligible loyalty points and includes cosmetic rewards and game time. Its stated closing date is January 22, 2027; eligibility is tied to that regional promotion.

New shop options include witch-themed cosmetic sets paired with broom mounts and a separate owl mount. Where supported, a WoW Token can be converted into Battle.net Balance for eligible shop purchases. This still consumes valuable in-game resources, so compare the cost before choosing that route.

A Twitch drop runs from October 13 through November 3 and requires four hours of eligible World of Warcraft viewing for a housing decoration. Link the appropriate accounts, use a participating stream and claim the reward through the drop system.
