Overview

The Grazi Blood Knights reward coordinated damage, disciplined positioning, and fast reactions. This guide explains the duo encounter’s central mechanics, from keeping the knights apart to managing the Sanguine Heart and surviving the final damage race. Understanding those responsibilities makes the fight more manageable than trying to heal through every mistake.

Why This Fight Punishes Slow Damage

The encounter is demanding even in normal mode. Its difficulty comes from the combination of incoming damage, escalating pressure, and mechanics that become harder to manage when phases last longer. Recognising an attack is only half the solution: both players also need enough uninterrupted damage to keep the fight moving.

Longer phases can introduce a bouncing blood projectile that travels between the two players while other attacks continue. Greater distance increases its travel time, but spacing alone does not remove the danger. Treat it as another reason to maintain damage without abandoning essential mechanics.

Damage and survival are connected here. Excessive eating, unnecessary movement, and poor target positioning can prolong a phase, creating more pressure and forcing further defensive play. The aim is not reckless damage; it is a repeatable rotation that leaves room for movement and defensive abilities.

Separate the Knights and Coordinate Aggro

Keep the bosses apart

Allowing the two knights to stand close together severely reduces your ability to damage them. Maintaining separation is therefore a core responsibility, not a minor positioning improvement.

Before starting, agree which player initially handles each knight and where each player intends to stand. Avoid dragging one boss toward the other when dodging attacks. After any forced movement, check both positions before settling back into your rotation.

Use Provoke to manage sustained pressure

Repeated attacks from the same knight increase the damage pressure on its target. Coordinated swaps using Provoke can reduce the overall strain, although they introduce another responsibility during an already busy fight.

Carmina, the melee knight, is especially punishing to tank. Discuss swaps in advance rather than provoking unpredictably, since an unexpected change can disrupt positioning or leave a partner handling more than intended.

  • Assign initial targets before the pull.
  • Keep the knights separated while maintaining reliable attack uptime.
  • Communicate before changing aggro.
  • Check your partner’s position before moving a boss.

Read Blood Waves and Colour-Coded Attacks

Blood waves: movement first, protection when needed

Blood waves are clearly telegraphed, giving players a chance to move before impact. In normal mode, learning their timing is an important early goal. Protect from Magic can help mitigate their damage when a dodge fails, but avoiding a hit is preferable to repeatedly absorbing it.

Carmina’s associated lunge can also stun an unprepared player. Anticipation is useful when preparing for that sequence, provided it is timed around the incoming threat rather than used without a plan.

At 100% enrage, waves become faster, and later sequences can include additional waves. Normal-mode practice should therefore focus on reading the telegraph and moving cleanly, rather than relying entirely on food and protection prayers.

Match protection prayers to projectile colours

A rapid sequence of coloured projectiles creates a short, concentrated prayer-switching test. Recognising each colour lets you select the appropriate protection:

  • Red: Protect from Melee.
  • Green: Protect from Missiles.
  • Blue: Protect from Magic.

The timing matters more than simply having the correct prayer active somewhere during the sequence. Watch the incoming projectiles and practise switching for their impacts.

These attacks become particularly dangerous later in the encounter or when one player receives overlapping pressure. Keep defensive abilities available for mistakes, and do not assume every incoming sequence will be comfortably divided between partners.

Phase Three: Split Responsibilities at the Sanguine Heart

The Sanguine Heart section divides the duo into two distinct jobs. One player attacks the heart above, while the other remains below to manage the knights and sanguine tumours.

Strong damage against the heart shortens this split. Delays increase pressure, so the player going up should be ready to attack promptly instead of spending the opening reorganising abilities or resources.

The heart attacker’s job

  • Begin dealing damage as soon as the heart is accessible.
  • Maintain a reliable rotation rather than improvising under pressure.
  • Communicate progress so the player below knows whether another timer reset is needed.

The ground player’s job

The player below may need to handle both knights while also killing sanguine tumours. Those tumours refresh the timer that keeps the other player at the heart. The timer lasts 18 seconds, making kill timing more important than clearing every available target immediately.

Killing a tumour too early wastes part of the potential refresh. Leaving it too late risks interrupting the heart attempt. Watch the timer, prepare damage on the required target, and secure the kill with enough margin to account for movement or incoming attacks.

A further telegraphed attack appears from this stage onward. Sidestepping or using a mobility ability can avoid its heavy damage. Keep an escape route available instead of committing to a position that requires crossing a dangerous area.

Phase Four: Resolve the Blue Bar Without Lingering

The depleting blue bar demands both timing and movement. The mechanic requires moving onto the red-highlighted tiles at the arena’s edge before the bar expires, then returning to safety promptly.

Reaching the edge is only half the mechanic. Remaining on those tiles can kill you, while ignoring the bar results in a damaging magic bleed. Plan the outward movement and the return as one continuous action.

  • Notice the bar early rather than reacting at its final moment.
  • Identify the relevant edge tiles and a clear route toward them.
  • Move onto the highlighted area to resolve the mechanic.
  • Leave the dangerous tiles immediately afterward.

Keep mobility available for this sequence where possible. A slightly delayed damage ability is a better trade than arriving late or failing to get back into the arena.

Phase Five: Balance Damage Against the Stack Limit

The final phase is a sustained damage check. The longer it continues, the more pressure the duo must manage, and the encounter’s stacks can reach a lethal threshold of 100.

The special action button provides healing and resets those stacks to zero. Monitor the counter while attacking and use the reset before the threshold becomes fatal. Do not wait until overlapping mechanics make the button difficult to use safely.

Preserving offensive resources for this phase can help, but only if doing so does not undermine earlier survival. A consistent route to the final phase is more valuable than an ambitious finishing rotation that rarely gets used.

Normal Mode, Enrage, and Upgrade Priorities

Normal mode teaches the encounter’s core language: separate the knights, respond to telegraphs, switch protection prayers, and coordinate the heart split. Low-enrage attempts build on that foundation with less forgiving versions of familiar attacks.

Judge readiness by consistency rather than a single successful kill. Both players should understand why damage spikes occur and know who handles each responsibility before adding further pressure.

For an RS3 gold budget, prioritise improvements that support dependable clears. Familiar weapons, sensible perks, and enough supplies for repeated attempts are more useful than exhausting your funds on one upgrade while leaving no learning budget.

The encounter’s reward appeal includes Tier 95 crossbows and a Necromancy codex associated with increased Putrid Zombie damage. However, rare rewards alone do not establish reliable profit. Common loot, supply use, failed attempts, and kill consistency all affect the practical return on your RS3 GP investment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is normal mode forgiving enough to ignore mechanics?

No. It offers room to learn, but poor separation, missed prayer switches, and mishandled phase mechanics can still cause lethal damage.

Which player should attack the Sanguine Heart?

A player with reliable damage is a strong choice, provided the partner below can manage the knights and time tumour kills consistently.

Why does damage drop when the knights move together?

The encounter penalises keeping them close. Restore separation before assuming the problem is your equipment or ability rotation.

Should every sanguine tumour be killed immediately?

No. Their timer refresh is most useful when timed deliberately, allowing the heart attacker to remain above long enough to finish.

What matters most for a first clear?

Clear role assignments, controlled positioning, and reliable mechanic execution. Better damage helps, but it cannot replace resolving the encounter’s lethal checks.
